Kanika Gupta Shori Steers Square Yards to Greater Heights

Kanika Gupta Shori is a woman with a difference. She is the Co-Founder and COO at Square Yards. She plunged into entrepreneurship soon after having her second child. A conversion with friends at a party in Mumbai spurred her towards achieving her entrepreneurial dreams. She launched Square Yards in 2014, determined that kids should not be excuses for putting her career on the backburner. Her husband Tanuj Shori soon joined her at the startup after quitting his job, while she started handling processes, human resources, operations, and business developments. 

She is also a certified scuba diver, while being associated with several other initiatives. She has also taken Square Yards to number one in the tally of women-driven future unicorns in the prestigious ASK Private Wealth Hurun India Future Unicorn Index 2022. Under her leadership, Square Yards scaled newer heights, launching portals for the Canadian and UAE markets, while growing its business and setting up the country’s biggest secured loan distributor, Square Capital. Square Yards also came out with the dedicated Square Connect for financial institutions, brokers, and digital firms, enabling higher inventory, opportunity, and productivity at the same time. More than 75,000 brokers use this platform today according to Kanika Gupta Shori. 

Square Yards came out with Interior Company in 2021, a one-stop affordable interior and furnishings solution for home buyers in the budget category. Square Yards has also ranked in the list of Top 10 Employers in the 2022 ASK Private Wealth Hurun Future Unicorn Index, with a tally of 5,390 employees and a presence throughout 40 cities and 10 countries. Square Yards is valued currently at USD$700 million, while the startup has also received funding of USD$98 million till now. 

There have been hurdles along the way, although the company has overcome them with her dynamic leadership and innovation. The company has partnerships with 500+ real estate developers, helping transact 10,000+ real estate transactions valued at more than USD$700 million annually across both global and domestic real estate projects according to Kanika Gupta Shori. Square Yards has technologically disrupted the Indian real estate sector, with Squareyards.com, its flagship portal, carving a niche with its highly-advanced discovery and search processes, along with cutting-edge analytical tools which help buyers take better decisions. 

Kanika Gupta Shori has also been associated with Mother’s Choice (a group caring for children who do not have families), COWE (a group backing female entrepreneurs), Hong Kong Green Homes (a movement for improving society), and Vision First (an entity working for the welfare of Hong Kong-based refugees).
